What is refractive surgery?
Refractive surgery reshapes the surface of the cornea so that light focuses correctly on the retina — reducing or removing your dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Our refractive suite includes blade-free LASIK, Femto LASIK, PRK, Trans PRK, SMILE and ICL (implantable collamer lens) for patients who aren't candidates for laser correction.
Are you a candidate?
Generally suitable if you
- Are an adult, at least 18 years old, with healthy eyes
- Have had stable vision for at least a year
- Have adequate corneal thickness, confirmed at your pre-surgery checkup
Usually deferred or unsuitable if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding — hormonal changes can temporarily alter the eye's shape
- Live with a systemic condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren's syndrome or lupus
- Have other active corneal or retinal problems
A candidacy assessment — including detailed corneal mapping — at your first visit confirms which procedure, if any, is right for you.
